CPB Darkroom: Community Days

CPB Darkroom: Community Days

CPB Darkroom operates as a shared community space. There may be other practitioners working during your slot. We request that all users be respectful and adhere to darkroom etiquette at all times.

    1.    The lab rental fee is ₹1000 for a 4-hour slot. This includes access to our home-brew chemistry. Specialty chemicals and additional consumables will be charged separately at cost per unit.
    2.    Community Day is intended for independent practice. While the CPB team will be present, this is not a teaching session. Participants are expected to work autonomously.
    3.    If you require additional support, a Lab Assistant may be booked (subject to availability) at ₹1000 per hour. Please note that assistants provide technical support but will not conduct the process or offer full instruction.
    4.    Full payment for lab and assistant fees must be made at the time of booking confirmation.

We look forward to hosting you in a respectful and collaborative darkroom environment.

About the CPB Community Darkroom

We are at a pivotal moment in photographic history.
With the rise of AI-generated imagery, the sanctity and materiality of the photograph are being redefined. In response, the CPB Community Darkroom was established as a hub for the practice, research, and revival of analogue photography in all its forms.

The darkroom supports a wide range of interests — from traditional film printing to alternative processes — and welcomes artists, students, and enthusiasts alike.

Our initiatives include:

  • Regular introductory and guided instruction on contact printing and enlargement techniques

  • Research and experimentation in analogue processes.

  • Photographic paper and printing chemistry provided for practice prints
  • Use of enlargers, timers, and necessary darkroom tools

  • One final set of fine prints to take home

  • Participation in an impromptu group exhibition on the final day

Cancellation Policy

  • Full Refund (100%): For cancellations made at least 14 days (2 weeks) before the event.

  • 50% Refund or 100% Store Credit: For cancellations made 7–13 days before the event.

  • No Refund: For cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the event.

Event Cancellation/Rescheduling

If CPB Darkroom must cancel or reschedule due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund.
